La autora propone repensar la problemática de esta enfermedad endémica americana, a través de un abordaje biomédico y la incorporación de aspectos sociales, culturales, políticos y educativos. Se reúnen testimonios de las integrantes del Grupo ¿De qué hablamos cuando hablamos de Chagas? que contribuyen a la comprensión colectiva del Chagas y sus implicaciones en la vida cotidiana. Se incluye un repaso histórico sobre la enfermedad y se incorporan diversos aspectos biológicos, como el ciclo de vida del vector Triatoma infestans y las formas de transmisión del parásito Trypanosoma cruzi. La autora concluye con una reflexión sobre la importancia de visibilizar los problemas vinculados con la enfermedad y desarrollar una mirada crítica y libre de prejuicios.; The author proposes rethinking the problems of this endemic American disease through a biomedical approach and the incorporation of social, cultural, political, and educational aspects. Testimonies from the members of the group "What are we talking about when we talk about Chagas?" are gathered, contributing to the collective understanding of Chagas disease and its implications for daily life. A historical review of the disease is included, along with various biological aspects, such as the life cycle of the vector Triatoma infestans and the transmission modes of the Trypanosoma cruzi parasite. The author concludes with a reflection on the importance of highlighting the problems associated with the disease and developing a critical and unprejudiced perspective.
