This thesis analyzes the way in which the densification process, the residential expansion and also the population increase of the Municipality of Sabaneta, part of the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley (AMVA) between the years 2000 and 2018 were carried out. Study exogenous and endogenous causes including the analysis of low participation; the regulatory changes in the various scales that allowed it, other actions of the municipal government that led to said process, as well as the subsequent attempt to modify the strategy; also the consequences of the phenomenon and the impacts caused. The thesis assumes, with an urban ecology approach, the great asymmetries generated, the pressure that the center produces on the periphery of large cities and the push for land; It is also argued that development planning and urban planning are central but under certain conditions that make the city resilient.
Between 2005 and 2018, around 18,500 homes were built in Sabaneta, and according to the current construction permits granted to individuals between 2004 and 2015. To allow this process, the Municipality has proceeded to the approval and implementation of the two Plans Basic Land Use Planning (PBOT) and various special Plans (PE). As in the subcontinent, this process has generated various impacts and for this reason the issue has been strongly debated. In this framework, the proposed case is studied.
