This work is part of the research project,” Histories of the Psychology degree at UNLP (2016-1917)”. Antonio Castorina, professor of the Psychology degree at La Plata in the early 1970s, is an exponent of one of the “textual sets” (Verón, 1993), about the relationship between ideology and science, which circulated in the academic unit; at the surface level this set is formed by a network of multiple significants to which discursive operations that produce sense effects are applied. This discursive production process cannot be separated from its conditions of production, circulation and consumption of other textual packages that structure the discourse. That is to say, the analysis of the social production of a discourse cannot be separated from the reading and reception marks that this discourse carries within it. The intention of the work is to place some of the marks of reading and reception of Thomas Herbert’s thought, in relation to the significant set: ideology and science, which structure the discourse of Professor Castorina within the Psychology career.
