Índices de estado trófico del área serrana del arroyo Napaleofu, provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Abstract

El Índice de Estado Trófico de Carlson (IET) es uno de los índices más utilizados en la evaluación, determinación y clasificación del estado trófico de un cuerpo de agua, incluyendo ríos y arroyos debido a su sencillez y objetividad. Se seleccionó la variable fósforo total para su evaluación. El objetivo del trabajo fue aplicar el Índice de Estado Trófico para evaluar la calidad del agua en la cuenca del arroyo Napaleofú. Se monitoreó agua superficial en siete sitios, y se cuantificó el fósforo total. Se aplicaron las ecuaciones de IET modificadas por Lamparelli. Los IET con mayor representatividad fueron los de productividad más alta (eutróficos, supereutrófico e hipereutrófico). Los niveles tróficos observados en el primer año de muestreo fueron mayores que los del segundo año.

The Carlson´s Trophic Status Index (TSI) is one of the most used indices in the evaluation, determination and classification of the trophic state of a body of water, including rivers and streams due to its simplicity and objectivity. The variable total phosphorus was selected for evaluation. The objective was to apply the TSI to assess the water quality of the Napaleofú stream basin. The surface water was monitored at seven sites, and total phosphorus was quantified. The modified TSI equations were applied by Lamparelli. The most representative TSI were the most productive (eutrophic, supereutrophic and hypereutrophic). The trophic levels observed in the first year of sampling were higher than those of the second year.
