Formación de competencias informacionales basada en design thinking

Abstract

El design thinking constituye una herramienta clave para la transformación de los entornos de aprendizaje, al ubicar al alumno en el centro de todo el proceso educativo y fomentar el uso de herramientas e instrumentos que facilitan la comunicación y la transmisión de información. El presente estudio describe la experiencia del uso de la metodología del design thinking en el Programa de Alfabetización Informacional para los estudiantes de primer año de la Universidad de Cienfuegos “Carlos Rafael Rodríguez”, Cuba. La investigación es cualitativa, descriptiva y se sustenta en un estudio de caso. Dentro de los métodos y técnicas de investigación se utiliza el análisis documental, el grupo focal con los bibliotecarios del Centro de Recursos para el Aprendizaje y la Investigación para conocer las expectativas y experiencias de la propuesta metodológica, la entrevista al responsable del Departamento de Servicios de Información con el objetivo de identificar las fortalezas y oportunidades de la institución bibliotecaria en el diseño de actividades basadas en design thinking, así como, un cuestionario a estudiantes para validar la aplicabilidad de la estrategia. Los resultados muestran la necesidad de utilizar esta iniciativa para adecuar la estrategia formativa a las necesidades reales de los estudiantes según su perfil profesional, y así, incentivar un mayor uso de la biblioteca universitaria en la actividad académica y científica. Las conclusiones señalan al design thinking como una metodología de trabajo que coadyuva al desarrollo y fortalecimiento del pensamiento creativo, innovador y crítico al aportar experiencias significativas en la formación de competencias profesionales.

Design thinking constitutes a key tool for the transformation of learning environments, by placing the student at the center of the entire educational process and promoting the use of tools and instruments that facilitate communication and the transmission of information. This study describes the experience of using the design thinking methodology in the Information Literacy Program for first-year students at the “Carlos Rafael Rodríguez” University of Cienfuegos, Cuba. The research is qualitative, descriptive and is based on a case study. Within the research methods and techniques, documentary analysis is used, the focus group with the librarians of the Resource Center for Learning and Research to know the expectations and experiences of the methodological proposal, the interview with the person in charge of the Department of Information with the objective of identifying the strengths and opportunities of the library institution in the design of activities based on design thinking, as well as a questionnaire to students to validate the applicability of the strategy. The results show the need to use this initiative to adapt the training strategy to the real needs of students according to their professional profile, and thus encourage greater use of the university library in academic and scientific activity. The conclusions point to design thinking as a work methodology that contributes to the development and strengthening of creative, innovative and critical thinking by providing significant experiences in the formation of professional skills.
