Abstract

A principios del siglo XX el gobierno bonaerense impulsó una serie de proyectos de canalización en el Noroeste de la Provincia (NOBA), con la finalidad de construir vías navegables internas que compitieran con el ferrocarril en el transporte de carga. El proceso de construcción parcial del Canal del Norte -unos 300km desde la laguna Mar Chiquita hasta su desembocadura en el Paraná- dejó huellas y vestigios materiales que perviven en el siglo XXI. Si bien la historia local los rescata parcialmente, las transformaciones físicas en el territorio constituyen un legado patrimonial para la región. Este trabajo consiste en el estudio histórico de ese proyecto, así como el análisis de la pervivencia de sus formas de apropiación espacial. Para ello se recurre a una metodología mixta, con un diseño de carácter cualitativo, apoyado con fuentes secundarias y primarias. Se plantea un estudio inicial del impacto que las transformaciones técnicas y materiales generan en los paisajes del NOBA y su patrimonio.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the government of Buenos Aires promoted a series of canalization projects in the Northwest of the Province (NOBA), with the purpose of build internal navigable waterways to compete with the railroad cargo transportation. The partial construction of the Northern waterway -about 300 km from Mar Chiquita Lagoon to Paraná River- left traces and material vestiges that survive into the 21st century. Although local history partially rescues them, the physical transformations in the territory constitute a regional heritage legacy. This work consists of the historical study of the project, as well as the analysis of the survival of its forms of spatial appropriation. For this purpose, a mixed methodology is used, with a quantitative-qualitative design, supported by secondary and primary sources. An initial study of the impact of technical and material transformations on the NOBA landscapes and their heritage is proposed.
