Inestabilidad, movilidad y distribución del ingreso en Argentina

Abstract

El documento analiza los cambios en la inestabilidad de los ingresos laborales registrada en el Gran Buenos Aires entre fines de los ochenta y principios de los 2000. Los objetivos son, por un lado, estudiar el impacto que tuvo sobre diferentes grupos de personas y hogares y, por el otro, evaluar cómo la variabilidad de los ingresos corrientes influyó en la concentración de los ingresos. Para esto último, se compara el promedio de la desigualdad de los ingresos corrientes con la desigualdad de los ingresos promedio (más permanentes). Los resultados refuerzan la conveniencia de combinar datos stock con otros que sigan las trayectorias de las personas.

The paper analyzes the changes in instability of labor incomes in Greater Buenos Aires from the late eighties to the early 2000’s. It aims at studying, on the one hand, the impact of instability on different social groups and, on the other hand, how the fluctuations in current incomes affected income inequality. For these purposes, the Gini coefficient corresponding to the distribution of average incomes is compared to the average of the Gini coefficients of current incomes. The results of the paper stressed the convenience of combining cross section and longitudinal data.
