No más esclavos, sino amigos (cf. Jn 15,14)

Abstract

¿La exigencia cristiana de servir a Dios y al prójimo no supone una renuncia a la propia dignidad? ¿Cómo conciliar dicha servidumbre con la irrenunciable exigencia de libertad que alberga el corazón humano creado por el mismo Dios? El trabajo que presentamos quiere mostrar la respuesta que santo Tomás da a estas preguntas al comentar Jn 15,13-15 en su Lectura al Evangelio de san Juan. Para ello, luego de introducir algunas aclaraciones necesarias para comprender rectamente la obra en su contexto e intención original, se dedica a estudiar el análisis que el dominico hace de los textos del evangelio mencionados.

Does the Christian demand to serve God and one's neighbor not imply a renunciation of one's own dignity? How can this servitude be reconciled with the inalienable demand for freedom that resides in the human heart created by God Himself? The work we present aims to show the response that Saint Thomas gives to these questions by commenting on John 15:13-15 in his Commentary on the Gospel of Saint John. To do this, after introducing some necessary clarifications to correctly understand the work in its original context and intention, it dedicates itself to studying the analysis that the Dominican makes of the mentioned gospel texts.
