“Bienestar” animal en ferias remates rurales: ¿es posible garantizarlo?

Abstract

El presente trabajo aborda la preocupante temática acerca del “bienestar” de los animales en las ferias remates rurales que aún perduran en el país y a nivel mundial, y el control que existe sobre ellas. Estas actividades datan del año 1890 y desde entonces se mantuvo gracias a una cultura retrograda que condena, denigra y daña la salud física, psicológica y emocional de los animales que allí se exhiben. En la actualidad se comenzó a cuestionar la permanencia de las mismas debido a movimientos en beneficio del bienestar y la liberación animal. Es por eso que en este trabajo recorro diferentes temáticas, desde las leyes de protección y bienestar animal junto con las normas de ferias remates rurales y su historia, la influencia del especismo, hasta la cultura argentina. Y sobre las mismas desarrollare los argumentos para llegar a cuestionarme si existe un control efectivo que proteja a los animales y que realmente garantice el bienestar animal en estos lugares.

This work addresses the worrying issue about the “welfare” of animals in rural auction fairs that still persist in the country and worldwide, and the control that exists over them. These activities date back to 1890 and have been maintained since then thanks to a retrograde culture that condemns, denigrates and damages the physical, psychological and emotional health of the animals that are exhibited there. Currently, their permanence began to be questioned due to movements to benefit animal welfare and liberation. That is why in this work I cover different topics, from animal protection and welfare laws along with the rules of rural auction fairs and their history, the influence of speciesism, to Argentine culture. And on these I will develop the arguments to question whether there is effective control that protects animals and really guarantees animal welfare in these places.
