Las identidades de género de las travesti/trans andinas y las hostilidades de sus entornos

Abstract

El objetivo general del artículo consiste en analizar los procesos mediante los cuales las travestis/trans sudamericanas construyen sus identidades de género en sus países de origen (Colombia, Perú y Ecuador) y las hostilidades que experimentan de parte de sus entornos. Cuando las personas travestis/trans expresan sus identidades de género se enfrentan a dificultades que pueden ocasionar que decidan alejarse de sus entornos y migrar. El abordaje del artículo es cualitativo, el método principal es la Teoría Fundamentada y se realizaron 41 entrevistas en profundidad. Para procesar la información se utilizó el software ATLAS.ti versión 8.3 y 22.2 que posibilitó aplicar un conjunto de recursos analíticos (citas, códigos, vínculos y memos). Se halló que las travestis/trans, al expresar sus identidades de género, experimentan violencias de parte de familiares, entornos y fuerzas de seguridad que ocasionan los desplazamientos hacia la Argentina. Además, fue descubierto que expresan y definen sus identidades de género de múltiples formas desbordando las típicas taxonomías académicas y del sentido común. En definitiva, el artículo aporta que la construcción de las identidades de género de las travestis/trans sudamericanas se ve afectada por las hostilidades que vivencian de parte de sus entornos y esto provoca que deban migrar.

The general objective of the article is to analyze the processes through which Andean travestis/transgender people construct their gender identities in their countries of origin (Colombia, Peru and Ecuador) and the hostilities they experience from their environments. When transvestites/trans people express their gender identities, they face difficulties that may cause them to decide to leave their environments and migrate. The approach of the article is qualitative, the main method is Grounded Theory and 41 in-depth interviews were carried out. To process the information, the ATLAS.ti software version 8.3 and 22.2 was used, which made it possible to apply a set of analytical resources (citations, codes, links and memos). It was found that transvestites/trans, when expressing their gender identities, experience violence from family members, environments and security forces that cause displacement to Argentina. Furthermore, it was discovered that they express and define their gender identities in multiple ways, going beyond typical academic and common sense taxonomies. In short, the article contributes that the construction of gender identities of Andean transvestites/trans is affected by the hostilities they experience from their environments and this causes them to migrate.
