"Hacerse al dolor": construcción del consentimiento en la confección de prendas de vestir en el Distrito Metropolitano de Quito (DMQ) 2019-2022

Abstract

El artículo busca responder la pregunta sobre la construcción del consentimiento en el trabajo, en un contexto de precarización laboral, mediante una investigación cualitativa basada en historias de vida y entrevistas semiestructuradas a costureras del circuito textil del Distrito Metropolitano de Quito, Ecuador. Se caracteriza el circuito de producción de prendas de vestir signado por la externalización productiva y luego, se analizan formas distintas de organización del trabajo en el circuito y las maneras de construir consentimiento en cada una. Se concluye que diversas formas de fuerza y consenso intervienen en distintos grados en la construcción de consentimiento. Además, se abre la pregunta sobre la dimensión multiescalar del conflicto entre capital y trabajo: ¿cómo incide la estructura del mercado de trabajo, la organización de la unidad productiva y la experiencia personal en la implicación y compromisos de las trabajadoras en la producción?

The article aims to address the question of how consent is constructed in the workplace within a context of labor precariousness, through a qualitative study based on life stories and semi-structured interviews with seamstresses from the textile circuit in the Metropolitan District of Quito, Ecuador. First, the clothing production circuit, marked by productive outsourcing, i characterized, and then, different forms of work organization within the circuit and the ways in which consent is constructed in each one of them are analyzed. The conclusion is that various forms of force and consensus intervene to varying degrees in the construction of consent. Furthermore, it raises the question of the multilevel dimension of the conflict between capital and labor: how do the structure of the labor market, the organization of the productive unit, and each worker’s biographical experience influence the involvement and commitments of workers in production?
