Alternative title:El Enjambre. Example of a stratoligated celestite deposit in the north of the province of Neuquén
Abstract
In this paper, the main features geological characteristics ofthe Sr ore deposit El Enjambre are presented. lt is situated in the northem sector ofthe Neuquén province. The El Enjambre mine is a stratabound deposit related to the Huitrín Formation. lt which constitutes a stratiform mineralization of celestite which shows with replacement evidences features. Celestite replaces anhidryte-gypsum beds with later calcitization processes. Pyrite appears as cavity coatings inside the mineralized manto. This feature allows establish sorne similarities with the Sr-ore deposits ofNaunauco-Taquimilán sector, a few kilometers to the west. lt propose a replacement origin for the El Enjambre mine over gypsum - anhydrite layers by hydrothermal fluids witch carried so4= and Sr possibly produced by thermal action oftertiary magmatism.
