De las caricias femeninas como un arte: la homosexualidad femenina en Occidente

Abstract

Esta reseña explora la labor historiográfica realizada en Historia de la Homosexualidad Femenina en Occidente (2023). A partir del abordaje sucinto de cada uno de los capítulos que integran la obra, con sus respectivos ejes temáticos, se pretende trazar un mapa teórico que dé precisiones sobre esta forma de acercarse a la lesbohistoria e identificar sus principales aportes. Para ello, se examina la problemática metodológica sobre la aplicabilidad de categorías contemporáneas de identidad de género y sexualidad para hablar sobre la historia de la afectividad entre mujeres en distintos periodos de la historia de Occidente. En ese sentido, se procura entender cómo las mujeres han percibido los vínculos entre ellas a lo largo de la historia, produciendo rituales, íconos, imágenes, representaciones y expresiones de género que dan cuenta de la multiplicidad de experiencias y resistencias desarrolladas. Finalmente, se esbozan consideraciones finales sobre los aportes y la relevancia de esta obra en su conjunto para el campo de la lesbohistoria.

This review explores the historiographical work carried out in Historia de la Homosexualidad Femenina en Occidente (History of Female Homosexuality in the West) (2023). Based on a succinct approach to each of the chapters that make up the work, with their respective thematic areas, the aim is to draw up a theoretical map that provides details on this way of approaching lesbian history and to identify its main contributions. To this end, it examines the methodological problem of the applicability of contemporary categories of gender identity and sexuality to discuss the history of affection between women in different periods of Western history. In this sense, this work seeks to understand how women have perceived the bonds between them throughout history, producing rituals, icons, images, representations, and expressions of gender that reflect the variety of experiences and forms of resistance that were developed. Finally, the review outlines concluding considerations on the contributions and relevance of this work as a whole to the field of lesbian history.
