Argentina y la vuelta al sistema interamericano: el largo camino a Chapultepec

Abstract

La relación entre Argentina y Estados Unidos atravesó uno de sus más críticos periodos entre 1942 y 1945, cuando persistieron orientaciones disimiles frente a la Segunda Guerra Mundial. El siguiente articulo aborda la historia de la relación bilateral, entre la conferencia de cancilleres de Rio, y la de Chapultepec, en la cual se abrió el camino para el reingreso de Argentina en el sistema interamericano, para la normalización de sus relaciones diplomáticas y para la participación en el cónclave de San Francisco. Para entender este proceso es necesario analizar los distintos intereses económicos, políticos, sociales e ideológicos que condicionaron, en esos años, las políticas de Washington y Buenos Aires, y que permitieron, hacia el final de la conflagración mundial, un entendimiento entre ambas cancillerías.

The relationship between Argentina and the United States went through one of its most difficult periods between 1942 and 1945, when they he Id dissimilar orientations during World War II. This paper offers an account of the history of this bilateral relation, between the Rio Conference and the Chapultepec Conference, which paved the way for Argentina to reenter the Inter-American system, normalize its diplomatic relations, and participate in the San Francisco Conference. In order to understand this process, it is necessary to analyze the different economic, political, social, and ideological interests that conditioned the policies of both Washington and Buenos Aires during those years, which made it possible, by the end of the war, to reach an understanding between the State Secretaries of both countries.
