El socialismo europeo en la encrucijada: debates sobre cuestión nacional y revolución social en la Segunda Internacional

Abstract

Este artículo tiene por objetivo reinterpretar la relación abierta en la Segunda Internacional entre la cuestión nacional y la lucha de clases, planteando que las causas de la posición triunfante en 1914 deben ser buscadas en los años anteriores al estallido bélico. El análisis de textos fundamentales producidos antes y durante la Gran Guerra por los teóricos más influyentes del socialismo europeo en torno de las naciones y las nacionalidades permite captar en toda su significación de qué manera en dicha coyuntura se jugó la concepción socialista de “revolución social”, indisolublemente atravesada por el carácter sociopolítico que se estuvo dispuesto a conceder a las masas proletarias y a sus formas de intervención práctica.

This article aims to reinterpret the relationship started in the Second International between the national question and the class struggle, suggesting that the causes of the triumphant position in 1914 are to be sought in the years before the outbreak of war. The analysis of key texts about nations and nationalities produced before and during the Great War by the most influential theorists of European socialism can capture the full significance of how this situation shaped the socialist concept of “social revolution”, which was inextricably crossed by the socio-political nature granted to the proletarian masses and to their intervention practices.
