The state and condition of the agroecosystems (AE, after the Spanish initials) of milk-producing farms in the watershed from Rio Grande, were characterized and evaluated by means of parameterization and analysis of the Technological Receptivity, determined by biophysical variables, and the Technological Intensity (IT), defined by agrotechnological management systems. The results showed that there were seven agroecosystems, with very low RT all, limited by weather conditions and topography. The slope was the biophysical variable that most influenced the definition of agroecosystems. Although there is great diversity of ambits, all are management in the same way, with intensive traditional management systems, are managed with technologies that do not correspond to their RT conditions (traditional IT). The predominant production model has been driven by agribusiness present in the area, which puts pressure on producers to specialization, which is evident in the little diversification in agricultural activities and reliance on the market producers.
