El abanico o la pistola: Rodolfo Walsh, la literatura y el periodismo como herramientas de intervención política

Abstract

Los cruces entre literatura, periodismo y política en las décadas de los 60 y 70 están atravesados por un proceso de paulatina radicalización, en el marco de la opción por las militancias revolucionarias y la consecuente pregunta por la función del arte y la cultura en los procesos emancipatorios. Este interrogante está ligado a su vez a un debate sobre la relación con el público: en este artículo sostenemos que la trayectoria de Rodolfo Walsh –a 40 años de su desaparición por parte de la última dictadura militar- es una de las que más sacudieron estas reflexiones en la Argentina, junto con la de otros intelectuales que primero cuestionaron y luego rompieron con la concepción burguesa del “arte por el arte”, y con sus instituciones de legitimación. ¿Cómo escribir para el pueblo? ¿Cómo superar los guiños, la suposición de un lector letrado, la argumentación totalizadora? En Walsh, estas preocupaciones se materializan en un periodismo intervención política, en la búsqueda de un nuevo tipo de escritura documental con capacidad movilizadora. Contra el refinamiento burgués hará el oficio en la calle, con el grabador colgado al cuello, recopilando las voces de la gente común en los barrios y en las fábricas, haciendo una literatura de hechos verdaderos. En este contexto adquiere pleno sentido la afirmación que hace del oficio “el arma más adecuada” para la etapa.

The crosses between literature, journalism and politics in the decades of the 60 and 70 are crossed by a process of gradual radicalization, within the framework of the option for revolutionary militancys and the consequent question for the function of art and culture in the emancipatory processes. This question is in turn linked to a debate about the relation with the public: in this article we maintain that the trajectory of Rodolfo Walsh -40 years after his disappearance by the last military dictatorship- is one of those that shook the most reflections in Argentina, along with those of other intellectuals who first questioned and then broke with the bourgeois conception of "art for art", and its institutions of legitimation. How to write for the people? How to overcome the winks, the assumption of a literate reader, the totalizing argumentation? In Walsh, these concerns materialize in a political intervention journalism, in the search for a new type of documentary writing with mobilizing capacity. Against the bourgeois refinement he will do the job in the street, with the engraver hanging around his neck, gathering the voices of ordinary people in the neighborhoods and factories, making a literature of real facts. In this context, the assertion that makes the journalism "the most appropriate weapon" for the stage acquires full meaning.
