Un nuevo tipo de telescopio-cámara con tres espejos

Abstract

Es conocido el problema que presentan los grandes telescopios reflectantes al tener un campo sumamente reducido. La lente de Rose soluciona en parte el problema pues da un campo más grande pero sacrifica en parte la calidad del mismo. Los telescopios aplanáticos -todavía no muy difundidos pese a sus innegables ventajas- dan campos bastante mayores del orden de medio grado pero sus razones focales no son tan luminosas como el foco primario de los reflectores corrientes; en general la razón focal no puede bajar de siete.

An optical system has been designed which in a common reflector combines both the advantages of a relatively large field and a Meinel camera. The system consists of two confocal paraboloids; it is known that the parallel beam obtained is anastignatio. The image can be re-fonned by means of any type of camera. Theoretically it is possible to eliminate the correction lense of a Schmidt camera with three mirrors, since we have five parameters to correct the errors of third order: the three figurings of the three mirrors and the two parameters giving their relative distances.
