Stability and compatibility of Pralidoxirne Mesylate solutions in plastic container
Acta Farmacéutica Bonaerense; vol. 18, no. 4
Its stability and the possible interactions with such container have been studied. Pralidoxime mesylate solutions were prepared by dissolving 200 and 400 mg in 100 ml of physiologic serurn and stored in glass, polyethylene and PVC containers. Stability of pralidoxime mesylate solutions was determined by HPLC with an ultraviolet detector at 270 nm and acetonitrile 5 mM(phosphoric acid 1 mM(tetraethylamonium chloride (52:24:24) as mobile phase. The possible adsorption on plastic materials is studied by the same method, but at 292 nm. The corresponding pralidoxiine peak appeared in chromatograins at O. 1 aiid 24 Iiours and tliere were no other peaks indicating the presence of degradation substances. On the other hand that there were no significative differences between pralidoxime mesylate concentrations (200mg/l00ml and 400mg/100ml) in the three kinds of containers at o, 1 and 24 hours. The results showed the stability of pralidoxime inesylate solutions and the non-interaction between the compound and containers made of polyethylene and PVC till 24 hour

Celullose and vynil polymers in the formulation of hydrophyllic matrix: drug release kinetics and evaluation of the kinetic model
Acta Farmacéutica Bonaerense; vol. 18, no. 4
The behavior of differeiit polymers of celullose and vinyl derivatives, used in the elaboration of acetylsalicilic acid (ASA) tablets formulated as hydrophyllic matrix, was evaluated. Dissolution trials (USP XXIII) for controlled release ASA tablets were carried out, being elaborated the corresponding dissolution profiles. The obtained data were treated ernploying models that consider the release of the active principle as kinetic proceses of zero-order, first-order and the models proposed by Higuclh (square root time) and Hixson and Crowell (law of the cube root), considering to the correlation factor as comparative approach. In models with high correlation factor, where it cannot be distinguislied the release mechanism of the active principle, the kindness of the fitting was evaluated by estimating the residual sum of squares of the deviations; the equation with the least variance estimate was considered to be the best fit and its statistical significance with the other models was shown by the F Test. The bioequivalence of the formulations was determined by means of variance analysis of the percentage of dissoluyion efficiency (%ED), and by the Tuckey's method was established between who exist meaningful differences for a leve1 of p<0.05. Good results were acheved with Carbopol to 60% being obtained a hard , erosionable matrix with a kinetics of zero pseudo-order; with Carbopol to 10% and to 30%. associated to Polietilenglicol 4000; with PVP in all the proportions (10%. 30% and 60%) with very scarce influence of the percentage of the polymer on the dissolution values. being verified a kinetics of first-order release. In the formulations elaborated with HPMC to 30% and 60%, the tablets disintegrated immediately after being introduced in the medium of dissolution, and therefore they do not act as a pharmaceutical form of controlled release; but at the end of the experience, for effect of the agitation, the formation of a jellied, transparent flocculo was observed; hereat. when analyzing the mechanism for which the active principle is released, it was determined that in both formulations the release of the drug is dependent of its diffusion speed through the polymer (square root of the time).

Study of the disophenol drying kinetics
Acta Farmacéutica Bonaerense; vol. 18, no. 3
In this work the modeling of the equilibrium curve was reported by ten models found in the literature, being the models of Bradley and Aguerre those that better they describe the desorption process. The determination of the kinetic curves of the disophenol was carried out in a laboratory dryer in discontinuous operation in a range of temperatures between 40ºC and 80ºC and bed thickness between 8 mm and 15 mm. As a result of the carned out experimental design a model was obtained for the determination of the time of drying in function of the thickness of the wet calce and the temperature of the air drying

Comparative anatomical studies of two Loranthaceae species from Jujuy (Argentina)
Acta Farmacéutica Bonaerense; vol. 18, no. 4
Estos caracteres son de gran utilidad para determinar sustituciones o mezcla de ambas plantas.; Two species of Loranthaceae from Jujuy: Ligaria cuneifolia (R. et P.) Tiegh. var. cuneifolia (R. et P.) Blume and Tristerix verticillatus (R. et P.) Barlow et Wiens are compared. The former is used in folk medicine as an antihipertensive. As the latter can be confused with the former due to morphological similitudes, the present analysis appears as very necessaxy. Differential anatomical characters between both species are shown: Ligaria cuneifolia presents branched crystalliferous stone cells in leaves and stems; stems lack cork. Trisferix verticillatus lacks stone cells in the leaves, but presents isodiametric stone cells in the stems, and the stems evidence the presence of cork. These features are useful to determine substitutions or mixture of both plants.
