Samuel Very. Presentamos además, documentación fotográfica.; Following the recommendation of Commission 41-IAU (United Kingdom, 2000), on marking and preservation of the historical observation sites of the Transits of Venus, we present here the results of the investigation destined to determine the sites of observation of the transit of the 6 of December of 1882 in the present province of Santa Cruz. The French mission, entirely financed by the Academy of Sciences of Paris (France), was commanded by Frigate Cap. G. Fleuriais. For its part, the mission from USA financed by its own Transit of Venus Commission, was commanded by Lt. Samuel Very. Both had additional logistical support from the Government of the Argentine Republic and its Navy. Analyzing reports from the missions and Patagonian cartography from the 19th century, we were able to identify the camp sites in the vicinity of the city of Puerto Santa Cruz and the town of Puerto Quilla. We also present photographic documentation.

El presente trabajo busca fundamentar la incorporación de estudios en AC para la enseñanza de la astronomía en la educación secundaria y terciaria.; There are vast educational research works that highlight the serious difficulties that students present in learning astronomical subjects, as well as the prevalence of a traditional education distanced from the observational and experiential, thus accentuating the difficulties detected. We argue that progressive teaching with a topocentric and contextualized approach would favor the motivation of the students, the construction of a more real view of current science and a more active role in the learning process. Cultural Astronomy (CA) is an academic discipline that seeks to understand the multiple ways in which societies relate to celestial objects and phenomena. For this reason, we consider that it would be a powerful resource for teaching, since it provides tools for contextualization and allows working with sky experiences linked to “naked eye astronomy”, which requires little or no instruments.
It should be noted that CA involves aspects of archaeoastronomy, ethnoastronomy and the history of astronomy, thus offering multiple dimensions to take into account. The present work seeks to base the incorporation of CA studies for astronomy teaching in secondary and tertiary education.

The construction by students of a conceptual framework in accordance with the astronomical scientific model demands changes in the current teaching approach. Within this framework, Cultural Astronomy (CA) is a discipline that we can use to rethink new didactic strategies. This paper presents two contextualized proposals from CA. In the first one, the teaching of space and time concepts is approached through traditional examples of orientation by the stars and the use of the calendar, using the case of historical ocean navigation without advanced instruments already highlighted in ethnoastronomical studies. In the second, these concepts are worked on from a case study, this time archaeoastronomical: the monumental horizon calendar of the Chankillo archaeological site, and then continue with the local identification of horizon markers that allow students to build their own calendars. The aim is to illustrate ways of introducing CA elements in didactic units that have as one of their main objectives that the students manage to establish correspondences between constructions of the micro to the mega-space that surrounds them.

Lunas de Saturno is part of a group of emerging productions from the city of Córdoba, it began broadcasting in 2020 and can currently be heard on Radio Bicicleta and Radio Eterogenia, two virtual radios linked to cultural centres.</dc:description>

Se analiza también su valor museístico e importancia de su preservación.; As a whole, scientific instruments constitute one of the most important elements of the material culture of science. The instruments sheltered in the Museo del Observatorio Astronómico de Córdoba, are witnesses of 150 years of history and give an account of the beginnings of Argentine astronomy, the objectives of this institution, its activities carried out and methods followed. These devices made possible astronomical investigations whose results had great impact, such as the great stellar catalogs and the discovery of numerous white dwarfs. At the same time, some were used for services that were key in the development of Argentina as a country, particularly in the first precise determinations of Geographical coordinates and the time unification and broadcast to the whole country of the official time. In this presentation we will describe the characteristics and uses of the first instruments belonging to the Observatorio Nacional Argentino, a collection that stands out for its variety and high quality, as well as for the uniqueness of some of its elements, such as the Zóllner photometer, the Rutherfurd-Fitz objectives, and the Platzeck’s optical pupil separator. Its museum value and the importance of its preservation are also analyzed.

Las conclusiones del estudio de ambas partes del diagnóstico ofrecen un primer acercamiento a la situación actual en nuestro país: la baja presencia de Astronomía en la Educación Formal, aportando una importante proyección hacia la tercera parte, aún en proceso, y a futuras propuestas de acciones concretas.; During 2020 year the Asociación Argentina de Astronomía formed NAEC Argentina, whose work plan consisted of three stages, the first of which was “Diagnosis on the Teaching of Astronomy in our country”. It in turn is divided into three actions: analyze the Jurisdictional Curricular Designs of Secondary Education to identify the presence of contents and specific subjects of Astronomy; find out about the participation of professional and amateur astronomers in instances of formal education; and analyze the designs of the Physics Teacher careers. In this contribution we present the results of the first two actions. From the analysis carried out in the Curricular Designs of the 24 Jurisdictions, it turned out that in 10 of them there is a specific curricular space on Astronomy in Natural Sciences Orientation. Regarding the participation of professional and amateur in formal education, the information was collected through an electronic form and the analysis of the answers obtained was organized into categories related to education, social and culture. The conclusions of the study of both parts of the diagnosis offer a first approach to the current situation in our country: the low presence of Astronomy in Formal Education, providing an important projection towards the third part, still in process, and to future proposals for concrete actions.

Sobre esta base se está elaborando un plan de análisis que permitirá establecer las propiedades de los sitios, con vistas a la instalación de nuevos instrumentos astronómicos.; A collaboration started between astronomers, meteorologists, and engineers of FCAG and CASLEO is developing a project with the aim of characterizing the astro-meteorological conditions at the “Complejo Astronómico El Leoncito” sites, particularly the “Cerro Burek” summit, where several telescopes have been installed through agreements with institutions of different countries.
We present the project for the next wide field energetic gamma ray observatory in the southern hemisphere, SWGO (Southern Wide-field Gamma-ray Observatory). It is designed to indirectly measure gamma rays and cosmic rays from 100 GeV to hundreds of TeV. SWGO will complement current ground-based detectors such as HAWC and LHASSO, located in the northern hemisphere. It will have a larger particle collection area and be in a location that will allow a better view of our galaxy. Among its scientific objectives is to provide information that helps understand the acceleration processes of relativistic particles in galactic and extragalactic sources, monitor transient phenomena above 100 GeV, study the variability at different time scales, and characterize the flow of cosmic rays in its range of energies, among many others.

Since 2020, there has been a constant decrease in the length of the day.
The Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS) aims to monitor global changes of the Earth system.

In this work we present an analysis on the distribution of stations in two types of IVS (International VLBI Service for Geodesy and Astrometry) sessions:

For this application, VieSched++ was used in order to obtain multiple configurations ( ’’schedules”) with more than 1000 simulations for each one. Each schedule represents a specific configuration of antennas and different weights related to sky coverage, telescope iddle time, observation duration, among others. From the analysis of the mean errors and the repeatability, it can be seen that the addition of VGOS antennas in the southern hemisphere and a better distribution of the stations in both hemispheres, improves the estimation of the EOP.

As we known, the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) is given by a combination of positions and velocities of a network stations on the Earth’s surface, calculated by various analysis centers from spatial geodetic observations carried out with the techniques: VLBI (Very Long Basseline Interferometry), SLR (Satellite Laser Ranging), GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and DORIS (Doppler Orbitography and Radiopositioning Integrated by Satellite). The estimated kinetic power for its jets is of the order of the bolometric luminosity of some ultraluminous X-ray sources. If this power is coupled to the matter accretion onto the compact object, then S26 must be a super-accreting binary, similar to the galactic microquasar SS433. Nevertheless, data from Chandra X-ray Observatory seems to imply that the central X-ray luminosity is four orders of magnitude lower than the kinetic power of the jets, and below the Eddington limit for a stellar-mass black hole. Motivated to understand the origin of this discrepancy, we analyze X-ray observations of S26 using data collected by the XMM-Newton space telescope. In this work we present an image and the spectrum of the source. Our results are consistent with those previously reported with Chandra satellite observations regarding length of the source, orientation, spectral index, plasma temperature, and the X-ray flux in the 0.4-4 keV range, confirming the puzzling nature of the object.

Concluimos que es posible formar un objeto masivo mediante acreción y colisiones.; Supermassive black holes have an enigmatic origin and models that aim to explain their formation, in particular the direct collapse scenario, face substantial problems. We present the results of the study of the X-ray emission of the microquasar 1E1740.7-2942, known as ’’the Great Annihilator”. The observation was made on 14 May 2021 and had a duration of 44 ks. The temporal analysis shows a low variability behaviour around 12.57 ± 0.64 c/s. The spectral analysis indicates that a power-law model plus a blackbody is sufficient to describe the spectrum. The power-law index (E-r) is Γ ≈ 1.8 and the associated blackbody temperature is ≈ 0.3 keV.

We propose an interpretation of the spectrum based on a relativistic jet and a hot corona, and infer the corresponding physical parameters.</dc:description>
