Mechanism of the chromatographic retention in reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC)
Acta Farmacéutica Bonaerense; vol. 11, no. 3
En este trabajo se consideran datos bibliográficos y estudios experimentales sobre benzodiacepinas, nitrofenoles, aminopiridinas e hidroxiacetanilidas en columnas de octadecilsilano.; Reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) has been widely used for analytical purposes as well as for determining physico-chemical parameters needed in the design of new drugs. Retention times of the eluates depend on the complex interaction of solutes between the stationary and mobile phases. The reason for different retention times has been classically atttributed to partition coefficients of substances and polarity of solvents in the mobile phase. Our experiments show that the organic solvent contained in the mobile phase and distributed in the stationary phase, influences the retention time of solutes through hydrogen-bonding. The location of molecules in the interphase (mobile phase / stationary phase) according to their chemical structure could explain different retention times for equally lipophilic substances. In this paper bibliographic data and experimental studies on benzodiazepines, nitrophenols, aminopyridines and hydroxyacetanilides, with octadecylsilane columns are considered.

Determination of organochlorine pesticides in waters of the province of San Luis (Argentina)
Acta Farmacéutica Bonaerense; vol. 11, no. 3
From the sixteen pesticides studied: hexachlorobenzene, chlordane, alpha, beta, gamma, and delta hexachlorociclohexane (HCH), heptachlor epoxide, heptachlor, aldrin, endrin, dieldrin, 44-DDE, 2,4-DDD, 2,4-DDT, 4,4-DDD, and 4,4-DDT, only ten of them were detected by gas chromatography with an electroncapture detector .The results showed an homogeneous distribution of the pesticides found in the areas under study with a clear predominance of HCH and DDT isomers and DD'T metabolites over chlorodines. The contents of the pesticides in potable water were similar or slightly higher to that reported by EPA (U.S.A.).
