Expansion of free tour platforms in Latin America: trends and challenges in the global context
Ayana; vol. 5, no. 2
This article examines the expansion of free tour platforms into Latin America in the context of market saturation in Europe. As regulations on guided and platform-mediated free tours become increasingly stringent in major European cultural capitals, these platforms are turning their attention to Latin America, where the regulatory environment is more lenient and the market remains in development. The study investigates whether this expansion represents a calculated, market-driven strategy or a natural evolution in pursuit of new opportunities. It also explores how the platform economy enables these companies to adapt to new markets through flexible and scalable business models. The methodology, based on systematic observation and quantitative content analysis, compares the activities of one of the leading free tour platforms, GuruWalk, in Europe and Latin America, assessing the level of development in the latter and its potential practical and theoretical implications. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the relationship between global tourism trends and regional market adaptations.

Music as a generator of memorable experiences in tourist interventions in the province of Misiones
Ayana; vol. 5, no. 2
The objective of this text is to present a university extension initiative entitled Artistic Intervention in the Costanera Centro-Posadas Linear Park, carried out under the auspices of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the National University of Misiones (UNaM). The project aimed to create memorable musical interventions to enhance the emotional value of visitors’ experiences, appealing to the element of surprise. These interventions sought to highlight a significant aspect of the province of Misiones’ heritage—its art, history, and culture. The project adopted a mixed-methods (quantitative-qualitative) approach as its methodological foundation, with field observation serving as the central tool for knowledge production in the context of university extension. Although we cannot conclusively affirm that the project’s objective was fully achieved, we can state that both surprise and music have the potential to make a walk more memorable for visitors.

Co-created tourist brands. An analysis of usergenerated content from Catedral and Las Leñas
Ayana; vol. 5, no. 2
Las implicancias gerenciales sugieren capitalizar fortalezas únicas, ajustar precios, mejorar la experiencia del cliente y adaptar estrategias de promoción y segmentación.; This study analyzes the co-creation of ski resort brands Las Leñas and Catedral Alta Patagonia (Argentina), using electronic word-of-mouth (e-WOM) as a source of information. Brand building is understood as a social process involving multiple actors, including tourism service users. To identify knowledge patterns in unstructured textual documents, text mining was applied to 500 Google Maps reviews, using automated content analysis.
The results show that the most frequent words were “place,” “beautiful,” and “snow.” Three types of benefits were identified: functional, experiential, and symbolic. The main topics included environment, economy, tourism, and leisure. Las Leñas was more associated with environmental and mobility issues, while Catedral was linked more to sports.
This work highlights the value of user-generated content and text mining as tools for tourism market research. It enables the analysis of destination brand images from the perspective of visitors without relying on intrusive techniques.
Managerial implications include capitalizing on each resort’s unique strengths, adjusting pricing strategies, enhancing customer experience, and tailoring segmentation and promotion efforts to meet tourists’ preferences and expectations.

Nature-culture in a regenerative key: constructing tourist narratives around the authenticity of protected natural areas
Ayana; vol. 5, no. 2
This situation has fostered new forms of human interaction with nature, influencing how tourism is conceptualized and promoted in these spaces. It has also contributed to the development of imaginaries and narratives that differ from those established during the early stages of the parks’ creation (Orgaz Agüera & Castellanos Verdugo, 2013; Trentini, 2016; Castro, 2020). The aim of this study is to examine how changes in the perception of nature challenge the tourist discourse constructed around the controversial notion of authenticity in Protected Natural Areas (PNAs). Methodologically, the study adopts a theoretical approach, problematizing the topic and comparing the conservation objectives defined by the National Parks Administration (NPA) from its inception to the present day. Through this comparison, the natural features valued in different historical stages are identified, along with the narratives built around them, questioning the idea of authenticity as it has been sustained over time, especially in light of the transformative and disruptive notions introduced by the regeneration paradigm in tourism.
