The pervasiveness of geo-located devices has opened new possibilities in recommender systems on social networks. In effect, Location-Based Social Networks or LBSNs are a relatively new breed of social networks that let users share their location by triggering ”check-in” events on venues, such as businesses or historical places. In this paper, we compare the performance of traditional rating and social-based similarity metrics against location-based metrics in a userbased collaborative filtering algorithm that recommends venues or places to visit.
This analysis was performed on a large real-world dataset provided by the Yelp social network service. Our results show that, geo-located metrics perform as well as rating or social metrics for selecting like-minded users and, thus, to issue a recommendation.

Cyberbullying and cyberaggression are serious and widespread issues increasingly affecting Internet users. With the “help" of the widespread of social media networks, bullying once limited to particular places or times of the day, can now occur anytime and anywhere. Cyberaggression refers to aggressive online behaviour intending to cause harm to another person, involving rude, insulting, offensive, teasing or demoralising comments through online social media. Considering the gravity of the consequences that cyberaggression has on its victims and its rapid spread amongst internet users (specially kids and teens), there is an imperious need for research aiming at understanding how cyberbullying occurs, in order to prevent it from escalating. Given the massive information overload on the Web, it is crucial to develop intelligent techniques to automatically detect harmful content, which would allow the large-scale social media monitoring and early detection of undesired situations. Considering the challenges posed by the characteristics of social media content and the cyberaggression task, this paper focuses on the detection of aggressive content in the context of multiple social media sites by exploring diverse types of features. Experimental evaluation conducted on two real-world social media dataset showed the difficulty of the task, confirming the limitations of traditionally used features.

A gene regulatory network (GRN) is a collection of molecular regulators that interact with each other to govern the majority of the molecular processes.
These networks play a central role in in every process of life, therefore, assembling these networks is rather significant. Since most of the GRN are hard to be mapped with accuracy by a mathematical model, the approaches that are called model-free have an advantage in modeling the complexities of dynamic molecular networks.
In particular, a rule-based approach, which is a highly abstract model-free approach, offers several advantages performing data-driven analysis. One of these advantages is that it requires the least amount of data, another one is that its simplicity allows the inference of large size models with a higher speed of analysis. However, the resulting relational structure of the network is incomplete, for an effective biological analysis. This situation has driven us to explore the hybridization with other approaches, such as biclustering techniques. This applied technique finds new relations between the nodes of the existent GRN. In this abstract we present a new software, called GeRNeT that integrates the algorithms of GRNCOP2 and BiHEA along a set of tools for interactive visualization, statistical analysis and ontological enrichment of the resulting GRNs that it was published in Dussaut et al. [1]. In this regard, results associated with Alzheimer disease datasets are presented that show the usefulness of integrating both bioinformatics tools.

We are interested in data-driven approaches to Natural Language Generation, but semantic representations for human text are difficult and expensive to construct. By considering a methods implementation as weak semantics for the English terms extracted from the method’s name we can collect massive datasets, akin to have words and sensor data aligned at a scale never seen before. We applied our learned model to name scrambling, a common technique used to protect intellectual property and increase the effort necessary to reverse engineer Java binary code: replacing all the method and class names by a random identifier.
Using 5.6M bytecode-compiled Java methods obtained from the Debian archive, we trained a Random Forest model to predict the first term in the method name. As features, we use primarily the opcodes of the bytecodes (that is, bytecodes without any parameters). Our results indicate that we can distinguish the 15 most popular terms from the others at 78% recall, helping a programmer performing reverse engineering to reduce half of the methods in a program they should further investigate.

Visual depth recognition through Stereo Matching is an active field of research due to the numerous applications in robotics, autonomous driving, user interfaces, etc. Multiple techniques have been developed in the last two decades to achieve accurate disparity maps in short time. With the arrival of Deep Leaning architectures, different fields of Artificial Vision, but mainly on image recognition, have achieved a great progress due to their easier training capabilities and reduction of parameters. This type of networks brought the attention of the Stereo Matching researchers who successfully applied the same concept to generate disparity maps. Even though multiple approaches have been taken towards the minimization of the execution time and errors in the results, most of the time the number of parameters of the networks is neither taken into consideration nor optimized. Inspired on the Squeeze-Nets developed for image recognition, we developed a Stereo Matching Squeeze neural network architecture capable of providing disparity maps with a highly reduced network size without a significant impact on quality and execution time compared with state of the art architectures.

Interactive reinforcement learning has become an important apprenticeship approach to speed up convergence in classic reinforcement learning problems. In this regard, a variant of interactive reinforcement learning is policy shaping which uses a parent-like trainer to propose the next action to be performed and by doing so reduces the search space by advice. On some occasions, the trainer may be another artificial agent which in turn was trained using reinforcement learning methods to afterward becoming an advisor for other learner-agents. In this work, we analyze internal representations and characteristics of artificial agents to determine which agent may outperform others to become a better trainer-agent. Using a polymath agent, as compared to a specialist agent, an advisor leads to a larger reward and faster convergence of the reward signal and also to a more stable behavior in terms of the state visit frequency of the learner-agents. Moreover, we analyze system interaction parameters in order to determine how influential they are in the apprenticeship process, where the consistency of feedback is much more relevant when dealing with different learner obedience parameters.

Successful modeling and prediction depend on effective methods for the extraction of domain-relevant variables. This paper proposes a methodology for identifying domain-specific terms. The proposed methodology relies on a collection of documents labeled as relevant or irrelevant to the domain under analysis. Based on the labeled document collection, we propose a supervised technique that weights terms based on their descriptive and discriminating power.
Finally, the descriptive and discriminating values are combined into a general measure that, through the use of an adjustable parameter, allows to independently favor different aspects of retrieval such as maximizing precision or recall, or achieving a balance between both of them. The proposed technique is applied to the economic domain and is empirically evaluated through a human-subject experiment involving experts and non-experts in Economy. It is also evaluated as a term-weighting technique for query-term selection showing promising results.
We finally illustrate the potential of the proposal as a first step for identifying different types of associations between words.

Interactive reinforcement learning (IRL) extends traditional reinforcement learning (RL) by allowing an agent to interact with parentlike trainers during a task. In this paper, we present an IRL approach using dynamic audio-visual input in terms of vocal commands and hand gestures as feedback. Our architecture integrates multi-modal information to provide robust commands from multiple sensory cues along with a confidence value indicating the trustworthiness of the feedback. The integration process also considers the case in which the two modalities convey incongruent information. Additionally, we modulate the influence of sensory-driven feedback in the IRL task using goal-oriented knowledge in terms of contextual affordances. We implement a neural network architecture to predict the effect of performed actions with different objects to avoid failed-states, i.e., states from which it is not possible to accomplish the task. In our experimental setup, we explore the interplay of multi-modal feedback and task-specific affordances in a robot cleaning scenario. We compare the learning performance of the agent under four different conditions: traditional RL, multi-modal IRL, and each of these two setups with the use of contextual affordances. Our experiments show that the best performance is obtained by using audio-visual feedback with affordance-modulated IRL. The obtained results demonstrate the importance of multi-modal sensory processing integrated with goaloriented knowledge in IRL tasks.

Automated negotiation between arti cial agents is essential to deploy Cognitive Computing and Internet of Things. The behavior of a negotiating agent depends signi cantly on the in uence of environmental conditions or contextual variables, since they affect not only a given agent preferences and strategies, but also those of other agents.
Despite this, the existing literature on automated negotiation is scarce about how to properly account for the effect of context-relevant variables in learning and evolving strategies. In this paper, a novel context-driven representation for automated negotiation is proposed. Also, a simple negotiating agent that queries available information from its environment, internally models contextual variables, and learns how to take advantage of this knowledge by playing against himself using reinforcement learning is proposed. Through a set of episodes against negotiating agents in the existing literature, it is shown that it makes no sense to negotiate without taking context-relevant variables into account. The context-aware negotiating agent has been implemented in the GENIUS negotiation environment, and results obtained are signi cant and revealing.
