Exogenous and endogenous conditions determining the accurnulation level of usnic acid in lichens
Acta Farmacéutica Bonaerense; vol. 6, no. 1
Using single populations of Protousnea malacea (Stirt) Krog, a fruticose lichen growing in different habitats, the study of the accumulation levels of usnic acid -a metabolite with antimicrobial properties- was undertaken. Environmental conditions and tissues age were considered in this research. The quantitative determination of usnic acid was done by HPTLC. The concentration values varied from different forestry sites; the content of usnic acid was much higher in young branchlets than in the old parts of the thallus.

Neomycin sulfate: effect of phosphate, borate and hydroxyde lons on its stability
Acta Farmacéutica Bonaerense; vol. 6, no. 1
The effect of phosphate, borate and hydroxyde ions on the stability of neomycin sulfate at pH 7.0 and the influence of different concentrations of phosphate ions in solutions at constant ionic strength (p = 0.6) were studied. Neomycin sulfate was quantified by complexation with amaranth and measured at 520 nm, while the discolouration of solutions was measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm. A major degradation for phosphate ions was observed while hydroxyde ions had a minimum effect. By TLC, two degradation products were detected at Rf = 0.35 and 0.46.

A study of stability of Oxazepam in pharmaceutical solid form by High Perfornance Liquid Chornatography (HPLC)
Acta Farmacéutica Bonaerense; vol. 6, no. 1
Se realizó el estudio de ia estabilidad térmica y natural de esta droga en comprimidos.; A reversed phase column (C18) with methanol-water as mobile phase and detection at 2.30 nm was employed for the determination of oxazepan and degradation products in tablets formulations. Flunitrazepam was used as I.S. The mean coefficient variation for the entire analytical method was 1.75%(n = 3). A working calibration curve over a concentration range of S to 250 ng of oxazepam was obtained and the recovery was 100.5% (n = 3). Limits of detection varied from 2 to 3 ng according to the compounds. A stability study of bulk oxazepam under thermal, acidic, alkaline and UV light conditions was performed. Degradation products were characterized by HPLC and TLC by comparing them to authentic samples. Natural and thermal staibility of tablets were carried out.
