<title>Microeconomía: Una aproximación psicológica</title>
<link>http://sedici.unlp.edu.ar:80/handle/10915/8956</link>
<description>Articulo
Económica; vol. 12, no. 39
At present we are living in a time where extraordinary things happen which rapidly change thereby creating tensions that give rise to different forms of conduct according to how we face up periods of inflation, war or State interventions. The variations which come into the equation of economical behaviour like those of socially, politically and familiar nature, which have been disregarded in the Microeconomical Theory by the blocking premise of a maximum utility, becomes more important. In a competitive market the search for maximum benefits becomes predominant. Here the behaviour is conditioned among to its own limited margin, which also, due to the existing atomization compensates some managers for their devious behaviour. But this supposition loses its importance when faced by imperfectly expanding markets where the strategy of one or some productors cause a variation in the structure which presupposes a pattern of behaviour through the principle of maximization in Economy. A knowledge of what Modern Psychology teaches about the behaviour of an economic subject, should no doubt enrich the analysis, bringing us nearer to conclusions more in accord with reality.

<title>Computación de funciones de distribución</title>

We show, through concrete application, the possibilities of the GAUSS-LAGUERRE method of approximate integration at the semi-infinite intervals. The normal distribution function was tabulated in its most significant range by means of only 4 and 5 ordinates. Attached is the program used on the IBM 1620 computer belonging to the National University of La Plata (Argentina). In less than three minutes 150 integrals were calculated. The relative maximum errors were of 4% in 4 ordinates and 3% in 5 ordinates.

<title>Devaluación, balanza comercial y términos del intercambio: Un análisis de equilibrio parcial</title>
<link>http://sedici.unlp.edu.ar:80/handle/10915/8954</link>
<description>Articulo
Económica; vol. 12, no. 39
In the present paper, the effects of a devaluation on the variables related to the foreign sector of the economy are studied according to the so-called "elasticities approach". Following a precise formulation of the assumptions embodied in the model, the results concerning the quantity of exports and imports, the prices of exportables and importables, the value of exports and imports, the balance of trade (both in domestic and in foreign currencies), and the terms of trade are derived. The LERNER case in which both supply elasticities are assumed infinitely large is studied; it is shown that the MARSHALL-LERNER condition (that the sum of the demand elasticities be greater than unity) becomes a necessary condition for the improvement in the trade balance in this special case, because the terms of trade will suffer the largest deterioration compatible with normal demand and supply elasticities coefficients. Alternative formulae using, on one hand only two elasticities, and on the other hand eight elasticities, are presented in order to complete the analysis. Finally, a brief discussion of the crucial assumptions of the present model is presented.
