The Videoperformance Trans-Siberian Train: Site of the Gaze and Perception of the Time
Arkadin; no. 7
Este artículo trata sobre la videoperformance "Tren transiberiano" (1970), de Joseph Beuys, realizada en el Louisiana Museo de Arte Moderno, en Humlebæk, Dinamarca. La cámara es de Ole John y el film fue expuesto como cierre de la exposición de Beuys denominada Tabernáculo. La autora realiza un análisis semiótico de la obra y de los archivos mediales, traduciendo estos textos del alemán. En esta obra, Beuys toma "Tren Transiberiano" como símbolo para la instauración del Estado utópico de Eurasia. Este trabajo aborda la poética del artista, su concepto de «arte ampliado» y de «escultura social».; This article is about the video-performance "Trans-Siberian Train" (1970), by Joseph Beuys, made at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, in Humlebæk, Denmark. The camera is by Ole John and the film was exposed as the closing of Beuys’ exhibition called Tabernacle.&#13;
The authoress conducted a semiotic analysis of the work and the Medial Files, translating these texts from German. In this work, Beuys takes "Trans-Siberian Train" as a symbol of instituting the utopian state of Eurasia. This work reconstruct the artist’s poetics, the concept of «expanded art» and «social sculpture».

El exilio republicano español es uno de los capítulos clave de nuestra historia contemporánea.&#13;
Nos proponemos estudiar de qué modo el cine español ha abordado esta cuestión, en qué momentos y bajo qué perspectivas.; The Spanish Republican exile is one of the key chapters of our contemporary history. "Trembling Crystals": Building over Ruins
Arkadin; no. 7
Se profundizará en las fuerzas que tienen las imágenes para exhumar lo que esconden los pliegues de la Historia. Historia —parafraseando a Walter Benjamin— llena de escombros y de ruinas que se entremezclan con el ser humano. Estos restos, como todo tipo de objeto, contienen una enorme potencia vital, resultado de la condensación del tiempo vivido. Cuando se vinculan las imágenes tienen el poder de desatar fuerzas y de impactar la realidad en el presente hasta ponernos frente a un cuestionamiento: ¿hasta qué punto las fuerzas de las imágenes influyen en el montaje de la obra?; It will deepen the forces that images have to exhume what the folds of History hide. History —paraphrasing Benjamin— full of rubble and ruins that intermingle with the human being.&#13;
These remains, like all kinds of objects, contain an enormous vital power, the result of the condensation of lived time. When the images are linked, they have the power to unleash forces and to impact reality in the present until they are challenged: to what extent do the forces of the images influence the assembly of the work?

Supplements to Vision: The Stopped Image
Arkadin; no. 7
The editing suite occupies the place of the writing desk, of the doubtful work of cutting or stopping in the interval. The stopped image is a fundamental gesture in essay cinema, one which is used to make the actual material of the image more visible and, just like slow motion, it creates a supplement to vision, as well as time to think about it. Because with a stopped image, the spectator becomes thoughtful. These issues bring us back to the open form, and to the vertical way in which we can perceive them. When we look at an image, our gaze goes in all directions, and so we should take pains to begin with that visual exploration before writing about it.

After the death of André Bazin, Eric Rohmer took his place in the editorial office of "Cahiers du cinéma" together with Jacques Doniol-Valcroze. It is the moment when young Turks begin to direct their first films. From a classical perspective, Rohmer insists that the mise en scène has a revealing character and that it should be no more than a slight stylization of the real.

<description>Articulo
From a Distant Land: Letter from Siberia, Revisited
Arkadin; no. 7
The article examines "Letter from Siberia", by Chris Marker, widely recognized as a milestone in the history of essay film. While reconsidering some arguments about the elements that have made the film an obligatory reference, it focalizes in the construction of its author as an emblem of the condition of film essayist. Furthermore, the text delves into the ways Letter from Siberia locates the cinema in a complex intermedia matrix that highlights its visionary potential, anticipating certain discussions that would only emerge plenty half a century later, in front of the advance of digitalization in film and audiovisual arts.

<description>Articulo
The Ties that Came Togheter: Patience (after Sebald), by Grant Gee
Arkadin; no. 7
The article examines the relationship between the film essay "Patience (after Sebald)", by Grant Gee, and the book The Rings of Saturn, by W. Montaje of Empty Spaces: Cortázar, Godard, Rauschenberg
Arkadin; no. 7
The essay tries to find a relationship among Cortázar, Godard and Rauschenberg through the operative concept of montage of the empty spaces: it is a type of montage that dates back to Deleuze and postulates the introduction of a space image by image, that will allow new forms of reciprocity (shot and countershot) and the creation of a free space for the spectator who becomes co-author.

<description>Articulo
The Cinema of Robert Kramer: An Essay Concerning Love
Arkadin; no. 7
El texto estudia de qué manera la emergencia de formas autorreferenciales en la obra del director trastocó las categorías tradicionalmente asociadas a los sistemas de representación del cine documental y del cine militante.; Mapping Robert Kramer’s filmography and four of its titles —Ice (1969), Scenes from the Class Struggle in Portugal (1977/79), Berlin 10/90 (1990) and Ghosts of Electricity (1997)—, the paper focuses on the articulations between politics and subjectivity. As it interweaves art and life, Kramer’s essayistic oeuvre constitutes a fertile ground to analyze the destructuration of the film forms and the self-referential turn of political film. The article examines how the emergence of self-referential forms in Kramer’s cinema overturned the categories traditionally associated with the systems of representation of documentary and militant film.

With the Corner of the Eye
Arkadin; no. 7
The article addresses different aspects of the relationship between making films and thinking Cinema, the world and its representation on the screen, and the traces of the real in film discourse. Developping his concept of «ripping», the author shapes a reflection on the modes of incidence of the real in the cinema, as an emergency in which both a revelation of the world and an exercise of gaze slides between the visible and the invisible.

<link>http://sedici.unlp.edu.ar:80/handle/10915/71930</link>
<description>Contribucion a revista
Arkadin; no. 7
En su número 7 Arkadin comienza una indagación que abarcará dos ediciones en torno a una cuestión clave del cine y de las artes audiovisuales, un asunto de creciente incidencia en las pantallas contemporáneas. Nos referimos a la presencia de una categoría a menudo denominada «film ensayo», «ensayo cinematográfico» o, si nos extendemos al campo de otras prácticas artísticas que nos ocupan, «videoensayo» o «ensayo audiovisual», la cual ha sido reconocida a lo largo de una trayectoria que abarca casi un siglo. Desde los tiempos pioneros de la vanguardia histórica, a través del documental poético, o más insistentemente en los años formativos de la modernidad cinematográfica, la confluencia de la creación audiovisual y de la forma ensayo han determinado que en un conjunto creciente de films —más tarde acompañados de videos y recientemente de realizaciones digitales—, aparecieran en concurso las fuerzas del arte y del pensamiento, constituyendo obras que se resisten a una clasificación inmediata.&#13;
