History of Latin American Art: Contributions to Think about its Future

This paper will analyze the Nachleben concept developed by Aby Warburg to analyze survivals and reflect on those forms that are resignified in the present. This category of Warburgian thought allows us to address some of
the problems that emerge from the study of the history of Latin American and contemporary art, which involves adopting anachronistic theoretical positions and rethinking the distribution of center-periphery roles in the construction of aesthetic theories in Latin America.

Since its creation, Argentina as a nation-state has devoted an important part of its cultural resources to the creation of a homogeneous social identity that would allow its citizens to recognize themselves as Argentinian. Works and Months: Medieval Plaster Casts in the Halls of the Faculty of Arts

The Mystery of Gold: Danae and the Golden Rain, amidst Alchemy and Economic Science
Armiliar; no. 4
Between the XVI and the XVII centuries, in continental Europe, there was a proliferation of paintings, engravings, frescoes and prints dedicated to the mythical episode of Danae and the golden rain. The distinctive element of Danae’s scene, in comparison to other mythological nudes, is gold, which appears as a corrupting substance. Taking Hendrik Goltzius’ painting on the subject as a starting point, the purpose of this article is to investigate the way in which gold is represented in some of the paintings of the period. We will explore the link of these images with the curiosity of the time to unravel the mystery of this metal.
From an alchemical treatise to an economic text, between magic and science, we will find Danae being evoked in order to explain the power of gold.
