Longevidad y proyecto de vida en adultos mayores: cuánto hay de novedad y de problemática en su abordaje

Abstract

En esta presentación, se propone reflexionar acerca de lo novedoso que surge en torno a la longevidad y los proyectos de vida en Adultos Mayores. Así mismo, se plantea si puede o no constituirse o ser considerada una problemática: para el propio adulto mayor en tanto conflicto psíquico y exigencia de trabajo elaborativo; para la red vincular del envejecente y para el conjunto de representaciones compartidas. Se realiza una articulación entre conceptos y teorizaciones actuales, con lo que va surgiendo a través de las entrevistas en la investigación en curso.

This article presents research on longevity and the life-projects of the elderly. Reevaluating the main hypotheses and in line with the proposed aims, we present findings obtained by exhaustive interviews and from the recent theoretical work concerning the study of aging. We argue that longevity may or may not be considered a problem for the elderly. While it may result in psychic conflicts for themselves, their relationships, and their set of shared representations, it can also motivate new meanings in their life.
