dc.description.abstract Although forest plantations have been proposed as an integral part of the solution to climate change, there are questions about their sustainability. The objective of the work was to evaluate the soil water content of three plantation densities with Eucalyptus grandis in contrast to the natural field and its relationship with climate change. The water content of the soil was determined by gravimetry. It was found that the planting density did not influence it significantly, while between the treatments and the natural field there were differences greater than 50%. The replacement of grasslands by eucalyptus plantations could have consequences on water dynamics. However, these could also be used to manage excess water projected as future impacts of climate change. For this reason, it is important to discern the relative influence of these in relation to productive activities to plan an adequate use of the territory. en
