dc.description.abstract One of the components of geographic space is territory, understood as the result of the interaction between systems of objects, actions, and norms. Understanding the connection between these elements allows us to analyze how communities organize their territories. Particularly interesting is the exploration of the strategies deployed by the poorest sectors to constitute their habitat in urban contexts. Within this framework, the objective of this article is to understand the transformations associated with urban land seizures in Argentina during the period 1983-2021. To this end, we work from a periodization methodology, which allows us to understand the changes in the constitutive relationships of territory over different time periods. In the first phase, a path is constructed to gather elements for the study. In the second phase, an analytical approach is developed that allows us to arrive at a periodization that establishes three types of land seizures: 1) stealthy land occupations; 2) organized land occupations; 3) constant land occupations. en
