This paper is framed within the research work of the Center for Studies in Psychoanalysis, logic and topology of the Faculty of Psychology of the UNR. Our objective, in the 2018-2019, period was the development of Lacan's theory in Seminar XII called The crucial problems for psychoanalysis (Lacan, 1964-1965).
One of the axes raised as a “crucial problem” in this seminar has to do with the role of identification in relation to transfer and demand. In that context, Lacan discusses the conception of the analyst's place in the cure as occupying the Ego Ideal, and opposes it, to the object a in tension with the Ego Ideal. These are two antagonistic poles. Prior to this work, we had our objectives defined. We will work in the notion of symbolic identification in Lacanian theory, as regards the function of the unary trait. Methodologically it is a literature review resulting from the opening to various questions within the framework of the research. From an interrelation of texts of the Lacanian theoretical production, we have set out to investigate the way in which the unary trait was emerging as a fundamental element of the symbolic identification for Lacan.
