Recently two papers have appeared (1982: Paper I, and 1987: Paper II) in Celestial Mechanics, in which the authors considered the analytical foundations of numerical applications of the symmetric difference quotient, to replace the partial derivatives in the Jacobian Matrix of the process of differential correction of orbits (in the so-called Gauss-Newton method).
