The rehabilitation of rhetoric in the 20th century has basically been carried out as a "theory of argumentation". However, classical rhetoric emphasizes the ability of language to influence the subject beyond purely rational aspects. In this work I investigate the way in which figures are inserted in a discourse on wisdom, expressing better than any other discursive form the nature and purpose of ethical knowledge. Indeed, if ethics seeks a special wisdom (which is not understood neither by the theoretical - conceptual nor by the mere erudition and information) then the way of generating and transmitting that knowle.
