The term “Plurinational State” has been part of the Bolivian constitutional language since the 2009 reform, and since then it has been resisted by means of citizen challenges demanding its suppression and the return to the “Republic of Bolivia”. Certainly the nomography used by the constituent assembly was not the most appropriate, but attitudes such as those described are incongruent with the principle of plurinationality that characterizes the population element of our Republic. Since we judge this issue to be predominantly terminological rather than substantive, the purpose of this paper is to respond to the claims of suppression or declarations of extinction of the Plurinational State.
