By means of the artificial rain the loss P by leaching has been studied. The intensity of the artificial rain (900 mm/minut) determined the loss of P to be the possible. The salt was directly supplied to the sectioned stem of the plant under observation.
Practically the P supplied since 18 hours before the treatment was not lixiviated and in consequence the P comes almost in its totality from that already present in the plant.
Inmersión leaching was much less effective than rain, and this fact in interpreted as a mechanical elimination of P on the outer surface of the cuticle wich therefore increases the diffusion gradient in relation with the interior.
The intensity of leaching seem to depend partially on the state of development (young and flowering plants) and other physiological conditions.
