In the following paper we will present an account of an experience framed in the extension project R.E.D.E.S. of the Faculty of Psychology of the UNLP, where we will take up the journey of a participant in the workshop to analyze it in the light of the concept of mourning from a Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalytic theoretical framework.
In addition, the essential place of supervision will be highlighted, as a tool for the collective construction and elaboration of feelings, affections and knowledge, which made it possible not to retreat in the face of the overpowering effects of the asylum and its effects.
Using the experience story, the importance of the elaboration of the ideals that surround the extensionist practice and its effects on the interventions becomes evident. The transmission of this experience allows access to possibilities of treatment of the imponderable of death in a total institution in which the usual rituals do not take place.
