This writing is the product of work carried out by members of the team belonging to the research entitled “Explorations on the production of subjectivity in children and adolescents in times of pandemic. Effects of desubjectification in the face of a natural-social catastrophe”, from the National University of La Plata.
The main objective of this production will be the transmission of the state of the disciplinary issue, having as its main coordinates the very objectives of the ongoing research: the exploration of the production of subjectivity in childhood and adolescence in a situated framework, taking the pandemic as COVID-19 as an event that, due to its unforeseen nature, as well as its implications and effects, can be characterized as a natural-social catastrophe, associated with the notions of trauma, desubjectification and subjective urgency. This without ignoring that the modes of inscription of factual events will be determined by pre-existing and singular symbolization resources, and in some cases may involve an effort of psychic elaboration that can be circumvented, without detriment to the continuity of an identification project, of the construction of a feasible and invested future. Therefore, locating that the traumatogenic effect of an event of unprecedented danger that puts vital continuity at risk, must be read without losing sight of the uniqueness of the case by case.
