Identidades heredadas, atribuidas y reivindicadas

Abstract

A partir de un trabajo etnográfico que incluyó entrevistas en profundidad y observaciones participantes, la investigación indaga sobre la construcción de identidad social de jóvenes que viven en el barrio El Martillo de la ciudad de Mar del Plata, Argentina. Como principal hallazgo, se establece que en este proceso entran en tensión y en disputa: las identidades heredadas producto de la socialización en diferentes instituciones, las identidades atribuidas por el mundo adulto, la identidad hegemónica asociada al ser joven en la sociedad actual, la identidad negativizada que le asignan los medios de comunicación y las identidades que les propies jóvenes reivindican.

Based on ethnographic work that included in-depth interviews and participant observations, the research investigates the construction of social identity of young people who live in the El Martillo neighborhood of the city of Mar del Plata, Argentina. As the main finding, it is established that in this process come into tension and dispute the inherited identities as a result of socialization in different institutions, the identities attributed by the adult world, the hegemonic identity associated with being young in actual society, the negativized identity assigned by the media and the identities that young people themselves claim.
