Viticulture requires a redesign of agroecosystems that leads to the protection of ecosystem functions. Finca La Masía is an uncultivated land with a potential use of sustainable viticulture. The objective of this work was to evaluate the application of the Índice de Hábitat Potencial para la Biodiversidad funcional (IHPB) to identify areas of the agroecosystem with greater capacity to provide resources for biological controllers and to propose a habitat design. It was hypothesized that the results of the IHPB would contribute to the design of habitat management that would protect the ecosystem function of biological pest control.
The land was zoned and the IHPB was calculated. Twelve zones were obtained, of which Bosque Cerrado de Chañar, Sector Inferior and Bosque Abierto de Chañar presented the highest values and were designed as biological corridors.
In Pampa Alta and Pampita, with the lowest IHPB values, patches were designed.
The IHPB evaluation proved to be an appropriate methodology in the identification of the best areas and the design of habitat managem.
