The research project "Young people, diagonals and emerging news consumption: an approach to the city of La Plata” is a continuation of the research carried out in 2020-2021, which worked on the news consumption of university students in Communication courses in Argentina. On this occasion - and in line with the previous project - we investigate what we call the "emerging news consumption” carried out by young people. These emerging consumptions occur not only through social networks, but also on platforms such as YouTube or Spotify, thus creating hybridizations between written news with audiovisual (videos) and sound (podcast). This line of research will also be carried out together with other universities, for which the creation of an Interuniversity Observatory of transmedia reading is planned, through the Investigar en Red team, made up of 11 national universities and 9 other study houses in Latin America.
On this occasion, we present the progress regarding the Interest in information demonstrated by the students of the Faculty of Journalism and Social Communication, of the UNLP.
