Aspergillus fungus is present in the environment, agricultural production and crops. If conditions are favorable, they produce toxic secondary metabolites called mycotoxins (aflatoxins) that can cause diseases in humans and animals, in addition to significant economic losses. The repeated use of the same active ingredient generates fungal resistance, leading to increased doses of chemical-derived phytosanitary products, necessitating the search for new alternatives. The Startup 2020 proposal under execution proposes the development of a bio-input as a natural fungicide that does not affect ecosystems. For its control, an extract of a native plant is used: Peltophorum dubium (Ibirá pitá). It should be noted that to date there are few precedents at the national and international level for the development and application of biofungicides. The product obtained has transferability to the agro-industrial sector with beneficial implications for human and animal health as well as for the environment. According to what has been evaluated, it can be used directly or combined with other synthetic antifungals on the market (synergism). The project includes adapting the populations that show the best biotypes and their transfer to the natural distribution area, generating locally produced GR that conserves the habitat and fosters interaction between public-private partnerships.
