This paper presents preliminary geochemical studies applied to planation surfaces and mandes of alteration in El Deseado Massif, Santa Cruz, Argentina, defined by Rabassa (2010), that might correspond to chemical corrosion pattems; recorded plains (etchplains) (Wayland, 1933;) Büdel, 1957), affecting a substrate of igneous origin. For this purpose sorne chemical indexes are been applied using fresh and altered rocks, they are: CIA (Nesbitt & Young, 1982), CIW (Hamois, 1988),ICV (Cox et al., 1995) and IMob (lrfan, 1996). In addition, a temary diagram was made: A-CN-K (Nesbitt and Young, 1984). From the analyses ofsamples the values obtained showed weathering processes in the study area allowing characterized the mechanisms of weathering such as hydrolysis processes of the incongruent type leading to the formation of clay minerals and dissolution and transport.
