Reproductive cycle of the invasive mussel Limnoperna fortunei in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Resumen

The golden mussel Limnoperna fortunei (Dunker, 1857), is an aggressive invasive continental species recorded for the first time in 1991 on the southern coast of the Río de la Plata, Argentina. The objective of this project is to provide information about the gametogenesis and the reproductive cycle of the invasive mussel L. fortunei. Specimens were collected monthly at Rio de la Plata (34°29S, 58°28W: Buenos Aires, Argentina) during low tide.
