This study analyzes the origin and initial collection of the Library "Biblioteca de la Facultad de Ciencias Astronómicas y Geofísicas”, linking its development to the founding of the National University of La Plata in 1905. Based on the rediscovery of a 1906 Library Catalog, 250 bibliographic records from the 1906-1907 period were transcribed and analyzed, identifying subject areas, origins, stamps, handwritten dedications, and items of high heritage value. The study shows that the founding of the University significantly boosted the growth of the Library through the acquisition of scientific and technical books intended for both research and the training of human resources. The initial collection reflects the positivist and modernizing project promoted by Joaquín V. González, in which the Observatory was to function as a research center and a space for scientific education.
