Assistants, technicians, and preparators have played a vital role in scientific practice. In university museums, they produced artefacts for exhibition, study, and the teaching of a given discipline. Although these workers have made a very significant contribution, their recognition has remained subordinate to scientific authority. In this project, we aim to highlight the contribution of Leonardo Virgilio, who worked at the Museum of La Plata between 1928 and 1956, applying modelling, casting, and sculpting techniques for the anthropological exposition, for other departments of the museum, and many other museums and institutions. Virgilio, at the same time, became involved with the circle of artists in La Plata and, in the 1960s, established himself with the installation of significant monuments in the public spaces of La Plata, emerging from invisibility. The main contribution of this report is to present works of art created by the sculptor.
