This paper is a first attempt to estimate the quality of limes for construction produced in the Argentine Country.
Samples of differents brands and of hydraulic and aerial Iypes had been taken during a period of one year.
Tests established in the Specification IRAM1 had been performed on the samples.
The results of the hydrated hydraulic limes, show a great variety of valúes, although the number of samples is not fitly alloted; it is much reduced in some brands.
Few are the brands that satisfy completely the requirements of the IRAM’S Specification.
Whereas the aerial hydrated limes, an IRAM as a tentative specification, were taken as a pattern.
In general, more favourable results are observed in relation to the foresaid tentative in the measured characteristics.
Moreover, in order of gathering suitable background for the compi- Iement of specifications, some tests of mixtures of aerial limes with portland cement and of masonry mixtures, had been included.
