(De)Construyendo “sustentabilidad”

Abstract

Entre los cuestionamientos a la agricultura “convencional”, el uso de agroquímicos en áreas periurbanas genera tensiones desde hace dos décadas. La sustentabilidad se presenta como una solución. Sobre la base de trabajos previos y entrevistas, el artículo explora la polisemia de sentidos en torno a la sustentabilidad en el periurbano hortícola marplatense a fin de lograr una reconstrucción analítica de las controversias asociadas al uso de agroquímicos. Los intereses entre actores no convergen, se identificaron al menos tres posturas. Contemplar la diversidad de visiones representa un desafío para el diseño de políticas públicas que arbitren el conflicto.

Among the questions of “conventional” agriculture, the use of agrochemicals in the periurban areas has been causing tensions and controversies for two decades. Sustainability arrives as a solution. Based on previous researches and interviews, the aim of this article is to explore the polysemy of meanings around “sustainability” in the horticultural periurban area of Mar del Plata in order to achieve an analytical reconstruction of the controversies associated with the use of agrochemicals. The interests between actors do not converge and at least three points of view were detected. Considering the wide variety of visions represents a challenge for to the design of public policies that arbitrate the conflict.
