Salas para música

Abstract

La calidad acústica de una sala para música se puede inferir a partir de su forma arquitectónica básica –caja de zapatos, abanico, arena y herradura– si se cumplen determinadas condiciones. Se puede establecer un conjunto de valores para los parámetros acústicos más relevantes en función de cada tipología, siempre que se mantengan dentro de ciertos límites otros factores. En este artículo se reúnen y enumeran las características acústicas esperables en un espacio según su tipología arquitectónica de base. Sin embargo, cabe señalar que algunas salas no responden acústicamente de acuerdo a su tipo. En estos casos, es posible comprender su funcionamiento considerando un apartamiento del modelo estándar correspondiente.

The acoustic quality of a hall in which music is performed can be inferred from its basic architectural shape –shoebox, fan-shaped, vineyard or horseshoe–, if certain general conditions are met. A set of values can be established for each architectural type for the most relevant acoustic parameters, if other factors remain within standard limits. This work lists the expected acoustic characteristics related to each basic architectural design. However, it should be noted that some spaces do not perform acoustically in accordance with what would normally be expected of their architectural style. In these cases, it is possible to understand the actual behaviour based on the deviation from the corresponding standard model.
