Uso y eficacia del sulfato de vinblastina en el tratamiento de distintos tipos de tumores sólidos en el perro y gato

Abstract

Dieciocho perros y un gato con tumores sólidos de diverso tipo, no operables, fueron tratados con sulfato de Vinblastina (SVB) en forma semanal. De ellos, cuatro casos fueron diagnosticados como tumores benignos. Luego de iniciado el tratamiento, se pudo operar en forma satisfactoria a 5 de silos (3 benignos y 2 malignos). Se obtuvo en general, una disminución del 25 a más del 50% en el tamaño del tumor, en el 84,2% de los casos, con una duración de vida media de 12 semanas. Al momento de la presentación del presente trabajo el 52,6% de los animales tratados sigue con vida. Los tumores incluían carcinomas y sarcomas de diverso tipo, así como mastocitomas. Se pondera la ventaja de esta droga y la quimioterapia en general sobre otros métodos citostáticos.

Eighteen dogs and one cat with different kind of no operable solid tumors were treated with Vinblastine Sulfate (SVB) weekly. Four of them were diagnosticated as benign tumors. After the treatment had begone, five of the animals could be operated in a satisfactory way (3 benign and 2 malign tumors),. It was obtained in general, a disminution from 25 to more than 50% in the size of the tumors in 84,2% of cases, with a average surviving time of 12 weeks. At the moment of the presentation of this work, 52,6% of the animals treated are still alive. The neoplasms included carcinomas and sarcomas of different kinds as well as mastocytomas. It is balanced the advantages of this drug and chemotherapy in general over other cytostatic methods.
