Utopía y revolución: los sueños vanguardistas de una estética radical

Abstract

En este artículo se analizan algunos aspectos teóricos e ideológicos que determinaron que las vanguardias artísticas se comprometieran en la construcción y el desarrollo de lo que Jean Francoise Dupuis (2004) ha llamado «estética radical», con el objetivo de mostrar que conceptos como utopía y revolución se vuelven fundamentales para poder entender el modo en el que las vanguardias de principios del siglo entendieron tanto su labor artística como su función social y política. Para ello, se reflexiona acerca del concepto de utopía y las problemáticas que encierra esta noción; se considera que este modelo utópico estuvo fuertemente vinculado a la idea clásica de revolución, la cual estaba inserta en el imaginario de las vanguardias artísticas. Por último, se analizan diferentes enfoques sobre el realismo con la idea de poder esbozar una reinterpretación del concepto de utopía.

This article analyses some theoretical and ideological aspects, which determined that the artistic avant-gardes were involved in the construction and development of what Jean Francoise Dupuis (2004) has called «radical aesthetics», with the aim of showing that concepts such as utopia and revolution remain fundamental in order to understand the way in which the avant-gardes at the beginning of the century understood both their artistic work and their social and political function. To do this, we reflect on the concept of utopia and the problems that this notion contains. It is considered that this utopian model was linked to the classical idea of revolution, which was inserted in the imaginary of the artistic avant-gardes. Finally, different approaches to realism are analyzed in order to sketch a reinterpretation of the concept of utopia.
